With the recent personnel changes happening in EA’s front office questions and optimistic and pessimistic remarks have arisen. Peter Moore claims to be trying to move EA forward into the future and away from the negative light of EA becoming a monopoly.
In recent years EA Sports has been trying to find ways to reach out to other audiences and bring them into the gaming world and it’ll start with their pride and joy, Madden NFL. “What we’ve got to do to grow the market is bring in the football fans, that own high def TVs, that love football, and yet don’t enjoy our games because they see them as too hard." And he goes on to saying that he wishes to also keep the core gamers already in love with Madden.
He continues on to saying that most people turn down the offer to play Madden because they, "don’t want to make a fool of themselves" and goes on to say there are too many button and triggers.
What does this all add up to? Will we see less and less options to use in the Madden games? Will new controllers be released? Will Peter Moore turn the 360 and PS3 versions of Madden into a wanna-be Wii replica? In Moore’s attempt to move EA into the future and bring in a wider audience will it force the core audience already established away from Madden and other EA games? It’s tough to say and see where Moore will direct EA but more than likely these changes will not be happening in the immediate future and will most likely be put off for another year or two.
