Xbox 360 owners have gloated for quite some time on being able to marvel over their achievements, being able to officially get recognized for what they’ve accomplished in a game.  Will PS3 owners finally have the ability to do the same?  The news breaks from a blog with a supposed "informant" from Sony.

It appears that in the launch of the 2.4.0 firmware, there will be an included function of "trophies" that work just like achievements.  It is rumored to include:

- 2D trophies from the Xross Media Bar (XMB), with 70% of the current titles supporting them right out of the gate.

- The ability to access XMB chat features from any game and video coding with groundwork for the Movie Store due out in September to be laid.

The update is rumored to be out June 12th, and while nothing is set in stone, you can believe that trophies will make their way onto Playstation 3’s rather soon.
